Job Title: Leisure Therapist

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Leisure Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team at the Eastern Suburbs Older Persons Mental Health Service.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering recovery-focused diversional therapy programs on an 8-bedded inpatient ward and engaging with community initiatives to support consumers.

About the Role:

  • This is a permanent part-time position, working 22 hours per week.
  • You will be responsible for developing and implementing diversional therapy programs to enhance the mental health and wellbeing of older adults.
  • You will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide holistic care to consumers.

Requirements:

  • A recognised health science or applied science bachelor's degree in leisure, recreation, or diversional therapy.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in diversional therapy techniques with older people.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage proactively with clients.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and exercise independent professional judgement.
  • Computer skills and experience with health information systems.
  • Commitment to quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and ongoing professional development.
