About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Thrift Shop Manager to oversee and lead the operations of our retail store. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring excellent customer service, efficient cash handling and banking, quality sorting and pricing of donated goods, and maintaining the overall appearance and upkeep of the store.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maximize sales and revenue through effective processing of donations, including receiving, sorting, pricing, and displaying saleable goods, as well as disposing of non-saleable items.
  • Delegate responsibility for collecting items to volunteers or manage collections during working hours, ensuring timely completion.
  • Implement stock and mannequin rotation, as well as stock management processes, to maintain optimal store stock levels and maximize sales and revenue.
  • Ensure the store is always presentable and inviting through appropriate measures.
  • Develop and implement retail sales opportunities, both internally and externally, to maximize sales, including in-store promotions and attending local markets.
  • Provide training, guidance, direction, and feedback to all staff, including conducting formal performance management, supervision meetings, and conflict resolution.
  • Lead a safe workplace by promoting work health and safety standards.
Requirements
  • A current Victoria Driver Licence.
  • The physical ability to safely sit, stand, walk regularly, and for long periods of time.
  • The physical ability to push, pull, lift, and carry items up to 10 kilos in weight.
  • The physical ability to climb ladders.
  • At least 2 years of demonstrated and relevant retail industry experience.
  • Experience in retail management is desirable.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in cash handling, financial management, and team leadership.
  • Prior experience in a charitable recycling retail operation is desirable.
  • Completed First Aid (PFA) training.
