Role Overview

We are seeking a qualified professional to fill the role of Domestic and Family Violence Practitioner. In this position, you will work with individuals who have experienced domestic and family violence, providing intake, counseling, court support, and group work. You will also partner with victim survivors using a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to support and empower them.

Key Responsibilities

  • ">
  • Completing client intakes, including initial risk assessment and safety planning.">
  • Providing domestic and family violence counseling, psychoeducation, and group work.">
  • Supporting clients attending court in relation to domestic and family violence matters.">
  • Advocating on behalf of clients experiencing violence and abuse, making suitable referrals, assessing eligibility for safety upgrades as well as other forms of practical assistance.">

Requirements

  • ">
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Act, Child Protection Act and Family Law Act and the impacts on families engaged in these systems.">
  • Effective articulation of a well-developed practice framework.">
  • Minimum of two years' experience managing intake, risk assessment and safety planning, court support, psychoeducation, referral pathways, DVO assistance and group work.">
  • Knowledge, skills and experience in the provision of trauma informed care, triaging crisis, a strong understanding of risk management.">
