We are currently seeking a results-driven Senior Strategic Planner to lead the development and implementation of structure plans, strategic plans, guidelines, policies, and planning projects.

This role will involve managing and actioning the preparation and processing of planning scheme amendments in accordance with relevant planning legislation, as well as supporting and representing the Coordinator Strategic Planning as directed.

About You:

To be successful in this position, you will have a strong track record of leading the preparation of strategic plans, guidelines, policies, and managing a range of projects, with detailed knowledge and proven ability in planning scheme amendment processes.

You will possess highly developed project management skills, with experience leading projects and teams, as well as the ability to manage your own and others' time to achieve project targets within a set timeline.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement structure plans, strategic plans, guidelines, policies, and planning projects
  • Manage and action the preparation and processing of planning scheme amendments
  • Support and represent the Coordinator Strategic Planning as directed
  • Identify opportunities and solutions to issues impacting the operation, direction, and activities of the Strategic Planning Unit
  • Represent the Strategic Planning Unit on internal and external groups
  • Prepare and review project briefs, funding submissions, Council reports, and briefing papers
  • Analyse and comment on documents provided by officers, consultants, and external sources
  • Provide an information base for Council, the community, government agencies, developers, and the local business sector regarding strategic/structure plans and policies
