ROLE OVERVIEW

Hassett is in search of a skilled and passionate Finance Business Partner to support their operations on a part-time basis for a 4-month maternity leave cover, with the possibility of extension. This role is crucial for sustaining financial activities and will involve close collaboration with the Finance Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting & Accounting:
    • Deliver insightful financial guidance to the leadership team.
    • Prepare comprehensive financial reports and ensure all necessary documentation is accessible for the CEO and Audit & Risk Committee.
    • Oversee the organization’s financial assets and liabilities, ensuring strong internal controls.
    • Maintain precise and current financial and accounting records, preparing reports for funding bodies, including funding acquittals.
    • Assist in developing and monitoring departmental performance systems, ensuring compliance with funding contracts and grants.
  • Payroll & Human Resources:
    • Guarantee accurate and timely payroll processing on a strict fortnightly schedule.
    • Supervise financial accounting for employee entitlements, WorkCover, superannuation, and salary packaging.
  • Tax Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to all tax obligations, including GST, FBT, PAYG, and other payroll liabilities, following monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements.
  • Financial Administration & Asset Management:
    • Manage financial provisions for assets and maintain the organization’s asset register, including fixed assets and depreciation.
  • Audit Support:
    • Assist in preparing audit documentation and reconciliation processes as needed.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Encourage positive and transparent communication within the finance team and across the organization, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
    • Act as a liaison with external stakeholders, including auditors, funding bodies, and service providers.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate will possess a robust accounting background, with specific experience in the not-for-profit sector and familiarity with NDIS funding. You will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to collaborate effectively with a small, dedicated team.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector, ideally with NDIS exposure.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to start immediately and commit to the 4-month duration.
  • CPA/CA qualification is highly regarded.
