**Job Overview**

This role involves reviewing clinical codes for accuracy and compliance, identifying and correcting coding errors, and creating and delivering training sessions on coding standards and best practices to clinical coders and clinicians.

The Clinical Coding and Education Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to maintain the quality of coded data. This includes staying updated with regulatory changes and developing educational materials to support coding accuracy and adherence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve coding quality and accuracy
  • Conduct regular audits to identify and correct coding errors
  • Create and deliver training sessions on coding standards and best practices
  • Stay up-to-date with regulatory changes and develop educational materials to support coding accuracy and adherence

**Requirements**

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Degree or Associate Diploma in Medical Records Administration or Health Information Management or other relevant health-related qualification
  • Proven coding experience with detailed knowledge of The International Statistical Classification of Diseases And Related Health Problems, Tenth Revision, Australian Modification (ICD-10-AM)
  • Experience in conducting, documenting, and communicating quality improvement activities particularly as they pertain to the clinical coding area
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with excellent report writing and data presentation skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
