Job Title: Business Operations Manager

The Department of Education, Western Australia seeks an experienced Business Operations Manager to join their team. This is a permanent full-time position that requires comprehensive oversight of the school's business operations.

About the Role:

As the Business Operations Manager, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership in financial management, asset maintenance, and human resource coordination. You will play a key role in ensuring the efficient functioning of the school's business operations, supervising staff, and guiding them in administrative tasks related to financial management and human resource management.

Your responsibilities will also include administering and reporting on the financial integrity of the school's business operations, offering valuable input into financial planning and budgeting, and developing business plans in collaboration with the Principal and the Leadership Team.

In addition, you will actively monitor the school's financial performance against these plans, emphasizing a proactive and results-driven approach to financial management. Beyond the financial realm, your responsibilities will extend to participating in committees and working groups, ensuring that your strategies align with both school-based and regional business targets, contributing to the broader success of the school.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership in financial management, asset maintenance, and human resource coordination
  • Supervise staff and guide them in administrative tasks related to financial management and human resource management
  • Administer and report on the financial integrity of the school's business operations
  • Develop business plans in collaboration with the Principal and the Leadership Team
  • Monitor the school's financial performance against these plans
Requirements:
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment
  • Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before starting
  • Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before starting
Selection Criteria:
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in the delivery of business outcomes and sound customer service principles and practices
  • Demonstrated well-developed oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to use effective negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated sound financial management skills, including budget preparation and the ability to interpret and apply financial and accounting practices and procedures
  • Demonstrated sound human resource management skills, including the ability to develop and/or apply human resource management practices and systems
  • Demonstrated ability to provide input into the development, implementation, and monitoring of business plans
  • Demonstrated sound conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills
