Job Description

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Provide technical expertise associated with overhead lines from 66 kV to 500 kV, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Offer technical expertise associated with tower structures, including communications towers, to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Contribute expert input to asset management strategies and philosophies, aligning with industry best practices.
  • Provide expert input to line performance and technical specifications, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute expert input to the development of equipment standards, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Support the implementation of asset management and asset replacement initiatives, driving business growth and efficiency.
  • Determine line ratings and publish these ratings for planning purposes, ensuring accurate and reliable data.
  • Initiate projects, developing concepts, preparing business cases, and project handover documentation, driving business outcomes.
  • Support Network Operations to achieve annual capital and operational works plans, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Support long-term asset reliability and resilience plans and regulatory submissions, ensuring compliance and quality.
  • Assess and review the condition of installed transmission line assets, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Review/audit asset data quality and related databases, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Investigate and analyze transmission line equipment failures or problems, drafting reports and recommendations.
  • Make technical decisions in relation to transmission lines, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
The Successful Applicant
  • Hold a relevant training or qualification in Civil/Structural or Electrical Engineering.
  • Have knowledge of relevant software packages used for analysis and design of transmission lines and structures, e.g., PLS-CAD suite.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of transmission system components, equipment, and technologies, with a focus on transmission lines and emerging trends and innovations.
  • Understand Asset Management leading practices, frameworks, and relevant standards.
  • Understand relevant Regulatory frameworks and legislation.
  • Understand relevant Australian and International standards and industry codes of practice.
  • Be able to lead and coordinate failure and incident investigations.
  • Be able to connect with organisational strategy and identify what is required at a tactical level to achieve it.
  • Demonstrate expertise in developing and implementing strategic asset management plans, preferably in a regulated environment.
  • Have strong analytical skills and the ability to leverage data-driven insights to inform decision-making and optimise asset performance.
