Job Title: Test Engineer

SGS is seeking a highly skilled Test Engineer to join our team in Notting Hill VIC. As a Test Engineer, you will be responsible for examining, testing, and calibrating road safety enforcement technology equipment and other traffic systems to determine their performance and condition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain tools necessary for the examination and testing of road safety enforcement technology equipment and other traffic systems.
  • Ensure that all testing and calibration is carried out in a safe, professional, and ethical manner in accordance with the engineering profession.
  • Assist the Project Manager Traffic Systems in any manner related to the Traffic Systems division.
  • Maintain total customer focus.
  • Test road safety enforcement technology and other traffic systems equipment in accordance with documented procedures to determine compliance with standards or client requirements.
  • Record details of tests, results, assessments, and observations to maintain a permanent record for report compliance and reference.
  • Prepare written reports of results, assessments, and observations obtained from testing for preparation of test reports in an agreed format.
  • Maintain accurate records of time spent testing road safety enforcement technology equipment for inclusion in the laboratory's monthly report and for determining the testing schedule of fees.
  • Be directly accountable for the test equipment being used.
  • Be directly accountable for the testing of road safety enforcement technology equipment in a cost-effective manner to assist the Traffic Systems division achieve budget.
  • Be accountable for the safe, effective, and efficient testing of road safety enforcement technology and other traffic systems equipment to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  • Act on opportunities to add value for clients by promoting SGS services.
  • Comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct at all times.
Requirements:
  • Hold a degree in Electrical Engineering or be progressing towards one.
  • Have an understanding of measurement and testing techniques relating to road safety enforcement technology and other traffic systems equipment.
  • Have an understanding of the principles used by road safety enforcement technology equipment.
  • Possess technical written skills to record test results for reference and report compilation as required.
  • Possess technical verbal skills to discuss test results with the supervisor.
  • Have comprehension skills to read and understand technical instructions and standards when conducting tests on road safety enforcement technology equipment.
  • Possess report writing skills for the compilation of technical test reports.
  • Possess interpersonal skills to work harmoniously within the test group to facilitate cooperation and assistance.
