Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Controls Engineer to join our Engineering Group. This position plays a leading role in the deployment of electrical control systems, including design, documentation, testing, and commissioning of materials handling automation hardware and PLC software.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop functional specifications for electrical control systems
  • Ensure conformance to OHS&E standards in the design and execution of all work
  • Prepare electrical schematic drawings, PLC programs, and configuration of operator interfaces
  • Configure SCADA systems
  • Prepare manufacturing and installation specifications
  • Plan and supervise major controls installations
  • Manage the procurement of parts, manufacture of cabinets, and electrical installation
  • Control project costs
  • Test and commission on customer sites
  • Prepare test plans and operator & technical manuals
  • Hand over projects to our Customer Service team
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in an Engineering or scientific discipline
  • Experience in electrical design and installation
  • Sound knowledge of requirements of AS3000 & AS4024.1
  • Experience in machine control, safety, and functional safety principles
  • Experience in SCADA's like ICONICS, CITEC, and WINCC
  • Knowledge of materials handling system controls
  • Experience in writing technical documentation
  • Knowledge of configuration, programming, and commissioning of PLCs (Siemens S7 preferred), variable speed drives, barcode scanners, and safety devices
  • Willingness to travel during the installation and commissioning phase of a project within Australia and occasionally overseas for extensive periods
  • Ability to work in a project-based environment as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team
