Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Systems Engineer to join our Engineering Group at KION Group. This role plays a leading role in the deployment of electrical control systems, including design, documentation, testing, and commissioning of materials handling automation hardware and PLC software.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop functional specifications for electrical control systems
  • Conform to OHS&E standards in the design and execution of all work
  • Prepare electrical schematic drawings, PLC programs, and configuration of operator interfaces
  • Prepare manufacturing and installation specifications
  • Plan and supervise major controls installations
  • Manage the procurement of parts, the manufacture of cabinets, and the electrical installation
  • Control project costs
  • Test and commission on customer sites
  • Prepare test plans and operator & technical manuals
  • Train client personnel and provide customer support
  • Hand over projects to our Customer Service team
Requirements:
  • Degree qualified in an Engineering or scientific discipline
  • 5-7+ years of experience in electrical design and installation
  • Sound knowledge of requirements of AS3000 & AS4024.1
  • Experience in machine control, safety, and functional safety principles
  • Knowledge of materials handling system controls
  • Experience in writing technical documentation
  • Knowledge of configuration, programming, and commissioning of PLCs (Siemens S7 preferred), variable speed drives, barcode scanners, and safety devices
  • Experience in managing installation crews
  • Willingness to travel during the installation and commissioning phase of a project within Australia and occasionally overseas
  • Ability to work in a project-based environment as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team
