About this role

We are seeking a skilled professional to undertake various activities ensuring vessels are maintained in good condition and operated safely by people with required qualifications and skills.

This position reports to the Principal Regional Port Marine Surveyor and provides an opportunity to support key initiatives in the region and contribute to broader strategies and goals.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct field-based compliance activities identifying unsafe practices and addressing them appropriately

What you need to have

  • Experience in a safety compliance or risk management role preferably within the maritime industry
  • A fast learner willing to participate in development opportunities and share experiences across a team
  • Strong presentation skills and a passion for supporting a safety-first culture

Requirements:

  • A commercial maritime Certificate of Competency minimum Master 45m (NC) or Marine Engine Drive Grade 1 (NC) or equivalent; or accreditation as an AMSA Accredited Surveyor; or a relevant equivalent maritime qualification with substantial experience in a safety/compliance/risk management position in the maritime industry
  • Knowledge of domestic maritime safety regulation regimes including AMSA's role and functions
  • Ability to hold and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)
  • A current driver's license
