Role Overview

This position presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) as a highly skilled and culturally competent Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Worker.

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing expert cultural advice and clinical recommendations for Aboriginal children, adolescents, and their families with mental health issues.

  • You have demonstrated ability to integrate Aboriginal cultural experiences, philosophy, and practice particularly as it relates to the provision of social and emotional/mental health services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children, young people, and their families.
  • You have extensive experience in engaging, establishing relationships, having informed discussions with Aboriginal children and young people (their families and significant others) to enable their needs to be met.
  • You possess knowledge and understanding of the cultural, and social and emotional wellbeing issues that impact on Aboriginal child, youth, and family health and wellbeing, and the impact of government policies on mental health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
