Key Purpose of Role:
The primary objective of this role is to oversee and maintain a substantial manufacturing facility. This position will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to coordinate and implement all external maintenance tasks (along with any associated requirements), manage the internal preventative maintenance system, and supervise the daily operations of internal maintenance personnel. This role relies on Industrial Engineering principles, including but not limited to cycle time assessments, plant layout optimization, and in-process enhancements to ensure the manufacturing facility operates at peak efficiency. To minimize downtime and enhance production output, the Facilities & Industrial Engineer must possess the ability to work autonomously, make informed decisions within the scope of the role, and demonstrate a strong commitment to continually assess, improve, and refine both new and existing manufacturing processes.

Areas of Responsibility:

• Coordinate and manage onsite activities for facilities-related external contractors, including obtaining relevant quotes and managing invoices.

• Maintain and complete induction records for external contractors, ensuring all contractors on site have submitted necessary risk assessments and/or safe work documents.

• Liaise with the building owner to facilitate inspections, upgrades, and any required maintenance work.

• Ensure team members meet deadlines while supporting their development, training, and motivation.

• Provide clear direction, guidance, and support to team members.

• Design, draft, and coordinate the production of small jigs and fixtures needed for facility use with both internal and external suppliers.

• Take ownership of the preventative maintenance schedule to minimize production downtime, including occasional support outside of regular business hours.

• Maintain and develop new plant layouts, assembly lines, and other facility-related drawings (AutoCAD).

• Review new product and part drawings to evaluate their suitability for the production environment.

• Facilitate New Product Introduction (NPI) activities within the manufacturing facility.

• Maintain and update site-related drawings, including traffic management, evacuation diagrams, and other engineering documents.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for external contractors entering the manufacturing facility.

Documentation:

• Maintain existing and create new documentation related to site facilities.

• Introduce documentation to support the implementation of new processes and manufacturing layouts.

Key Metrics:

• Timely delivery of projects within budget.

• Implementation of Engineering Change Requests related to manufacturing site modifications.

• Minimal downtime for maintenance activities.

• Efficient resolution of issues concerning system failures, products, and equipment.

Required Knowledge:

• Proficient in computer use, Microsoft Office, and maintenance software such as SAP.

• Electrical knowledge, including the ability to read schematics and perform basic electrical fault diagnosis.

• Mechanical knowledge, with the capability to design, repair, and modify basic equipment and fixtures.

• Familiarity with facility equipment, enabling support and coordination of resolutions for facility-related issues, including air, power, air conditioning, and forklifts.

• Understanding of OEE, 6S, or other relevant tools.

Professional Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a facilities-based role within a manufacturing environment.

• Experience with CAD (AutoCAD preferred).

• Familiarity with management and control tools such as Jira and TFS.

• Ability to work effectively in a team or independently.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications:

• Degree-qualified engineer or equivalent degree.

• Previous experience in facilities management.

• Prior experience in a manufacturing facility is highly desirable.

• Proficient in computer skills, including Excel, Word, and other MS Office applications. Knowledge of software IDE is a plus.
