About the Role

Mission Australia is seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth Employment Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting young people to achieve their career goals and aspirations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective job plans to support young people in achieving their career goals

  • Build and maintain relationships with young people, employers, and other stakeholders to identify job opportunities and provide support

  • Conduct assessments to identify barriers to employment and develop strategies to overcome them

  • Provide pre-employment support, including resume writing, interview preparation, and job search skills

  • Facilitate activities and learning experiences to build confidence and independence in young people

  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external service providers to access job opportunities and resources

  • Shortlist candidates for job vacancies, schedule interviews, and conduct reference checks

  • Promote social activities, career exploration, and industry tours to help young people discover their passions and potential career paths

  • Provide post-placement support to young people for the first 26 weeks of employment or education

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field, such as employment services, social services, or youth work

  • Experience in youth employment services, jobactive services, or case management

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to tailor communication to the needs of young people

  • Ability to engage and support young people who are experiencing risk factors in their lives

  • Demonstrated professional approach to maintaining professional boundaries

  • Strong administration skills and report-writing ability

  • Comfortable working to deadlines and able to handle multiple competing priorities

  • Full driver's license with no restrictions
