Lead Organiser Role

The position of Lead Organiser is a crucial one, as it entails developing and managing national organising activities across all industries.

This role plays a key part in helping the union achieve its strategic objectives and advancing the interests of workers nationwide.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop operational plans for organising activities, aligning them with industry strategies and campaigns.
  • Implement and promote effective organising practices, policies, and systems that support the union's goals, including fostering inclusive workplaces and addressing barriers to participation.
  • Coordinate the work of the national team of organisers, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Contribute to campaign development, reviews, and innovation, ensuring the union remains at the forefront of labour issues.
  • Enhance the union's organising capabilities and provide training and development opportunities for organisers.
Selection Criteria:
  • A strong passion for improving workers' lives and advancing the union's agenda.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and educate union members and potential members.
  • Capacity to participate in the union's political and social justice initiatives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
  • Leadership experience, with a proven track record of motivating and educating others.
  • Flexibility in working arrangements and ability to travel within Australia as required.
