This is an exciting opportunity to work as an Airfreight Import Operations Specialist with a reputable organization. As part of the team, you will be responsible for coordinating shipments, managing customer inquiries, and acting as key contact for allocated customers.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with customers, ensuring seamless communication and exceptional service delivery. Key responsibilities include:

  • Accepting and processing orders for handover to operations teams
  • Staying informed on shipment and exception status for allocated customers
  • Providing proactive updates on shipment status and exceptions to customers
  • Generating quotations and performing up-and-cross-selling on inbound customer calls
  • Passing leads onto sales departments
  • Managing customer inquiries and complaints
  • Billing of Air Freight Customs shipments, accurately and timely
Accountabilities

The role involves a range of key accountabilities, including:

  • Monitoring and arranging retrieval of general cargo and cold chain shipments from airlines
  • Submitting cargo reports to regulatory bodies
  • Invoicing of externally cleared import airfreight shipments
  • Interrogating customs status using ICS systems
  • Completing corrections to rating errors and AWBs
  • Lodging claims with airlines for damages
  • Providing support and backup to fellow team members
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum two years of experience in the shipping or international freight forwarding industry in airfreight operational roles (advantageous)/import operational roles (advantageous)
  • Minimum two years of experience in general accounting, invoicing, customer service, or operations
  • CargoWise & Expedient experience (advantageous)
  • A results-driven approach with effective communication and administration skills
  • Possess a high degree of diligence and a professional work ethic
  • Adaptability to changes daily due to customer requests
  • A high degree of reliability and mindfulness
  • Good knowledge of forwarding business, DGF products (OFR), and business systems
  • Ability to identify and meet customer needs in a pleasant and friendly manner
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Results-driven and attention to detail
  • A high degree of written, verbal, and organisational skills
  • Solid experience in MS Excel required
  • Strong analytical skills
