Deputy Role - Mining Operations

Fitzroy Mining Operations is a leading player in the Queensland metallurgical coal mining industry, boasting a portfolio of existing operations and a pipeline of growth projects.

We are currently seeking experienced Underground Deputies to join our team at both Carborough Downs and Ironbark No.1.

About the Role:

  • You will be responsible for the day-to-day functioning and performance of the crew, effectively managing people and equipment to achieve targets.
  • This role requires strong leadership skills, prioritization abilities, and a focus on achieving outcomes.
  • As an Underground Deputy, you will also have statutory obligations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Prioritizing activities with the crew to achieve targets;
  • Providing leadership and guidance to ensure effective execution of planned work activities;
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory requirements;
  • Carrying out regular inspections and audits to maintain high standards;
  • Providing feedback and coaching to team members to improve performance.

Requirements:

  • A Queensland First, Second, or Third-class Certificate of Competency, or Mutual Recognition; or willingness to obtain.
  • At least 12 months of experience as an Underground Deputy, preferably in the coal industry;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well under pressure.
