Healthcare Policy and Advocacy Specialist

The role of Healthcare Policy and Advocacy Specialist is a crucial one, requiring an individual with expertise in healthcare policy development and advocacy initiatives. The selected candidate will be responsible for shaping healthcare policies, advocating for the needs of patients, and advancing research initiatives in collaboration with key stakeholders.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to raise awareness, education, and advocate for policies that support the interests of patients.
  • Be responsible for the development of reports, submissions, and delivery of projects that enhance the organisation's engagement across the broader health sector as well as federal and state-level government.
  • Enhance and actively contribute to advocacy strategies to promote and advance the organisation's policy positions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and advocacy coalitions to advance research and promote evidence-based healthcare policies.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments relevant to specialist healthcare policies and provide analysis and recommendations to the executive team.

Requirements:

  • A strong understanding of the Australian healthcare system, policy development processes, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, professional organisations, and advocacy groups.
  • Possess passion for improving healthcare outcomes and advancing specialist fields through research, advocacy, and policy initiatives.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field such as healthcare policy, public health, or health administration.
