Job Summary

As a skilled locksmith, you will be responsible for providing high-quality locksmith services to our customers. This role involves assembling and fitting components of locks, security devices, and precision instruments, as well as disassembling, diagnosing, and repairing locks, timepieces, and other mechanical or electronic security systems.

You will also install, maintain, and upgrade security systems, including rekeying locks, changing tumblers, cutting keys, and manually opening locked mechanisms. Additionally, you will calibrate precision instruments using standard weights, jigs, fixtures, and hand tools, and manufacture and maintain blades for circular, band, and power saws.

Another key aspect of this role is testing electrical circuits in electronic timepieces and other precision instruments. You will also provide cost estimates and prepare quotations for repair and maintenance services.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training or AQF Certificate IV.
  • Relevant qualifications at a minimum Certificate III or IV level or at least 3 years of work experience in lieu.
  • Proven experience as a locksmith or in a related trade.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialized machines.
  • Strong understanding of security systems and key-cutting techniques.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
