Park Ranger Position

Our organization seeks a highly skilled Natural Resource Manager to fill this exciting role. This temporary full-time position will be available from November until March, and the right candidate will be responsible for managing over 300 hectares of natural bushland spaces in close proximity to the city.

Our team works closely with the community on restoration and maintenance activities throughout the year. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to short and long-term site-specific management plans, participate in community events, and ensure all works are undertaken in a safe manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct a range of regeneration/restoration activities, including weed control, direct seeding, enrichment planting, ecological and weed reduction burning, and mapping and monitoring of significant flora and fauna.
  • Protect, promote, and enhance biodiversity values and ecological processes within our organization's bushland reserves.
  • Maintain revegetation projects and aesthetic amenities of parks and reserves.
  • Contribute to short and long-term site-specific management plans.
  • Participate in community events and ensure all works are undertaken in a safe manner.

The position will be based at our Parks Office, and occasional weekend work may be required throughout the year.

Requirements
  • Qualifications in Natural Resource Management or a related field (desirable).
  • Sound knowledge of urban re-vegetation practices and remnant vegetation protection.
  • Good knowledge of integrated weed management practices using chemical and manual control options.
  • Knowledge of flora indigenous to our organization's parks and reserves.
  • Knowledge of weed flora of our area.
  • Two years' experience on urban revegetation/regeneration projects.
