
Community Liaison Specialist

Housing Connect seeks a full-time Community Liaison Specialist to join our team in Burnie.
This role involves undertaking initial and comprehensive engagement and assessment processes to determine the best service response. The successful candidate will provide information and advice on Housing Connect's service offerings and expectations, as well as redirecting people to other services where relevant.
Key responsibilities include addressing immediate needs, including assessment for and access to flexible funds for reasonable and necessary support. If someone is in crisis, you will connect them to short-term and brokered accommodation.
You will also be responsible for completing applications for housing assistance for people who are not able or do not want to use the Housing Connect Portal. You will coach and support service users to develop and progress an immediate response or Initial Action Plan for keeping or finding housing.
Facilitating access to specialist services, mainstream opportunities, networks, and resources is also essential to help individuals build social capital that supports their housing and other goals.
The ideal candidate must have expertise in conducting assessments using an Advantaged Thinking practice approach. They should possess high-level initiative and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to identify opportunities and discern external service system pathways.
Up-to-date knowledge of housing information, community resources, service providers, and referral points is crucial. The candidate should understand Tasmania's current housing market and the difficulties facing people on a low-income trying to secure housing.
A collaborative mindset, strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and computer skills, particularly the ability to operate word processing and database management software packages, are required.
To succeed in this role, the successful candidate must be committed to working collaboratively with Housing Connect partners to negotiate a consistent approach across all areas of operations.
Tertiary qualifications relevant to the position or extensive experience and lesser qualifications deemed equivalent are essential.
