Virtual Health Clinician Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Virtual Health Clinician to provide guidance to individuals with health concerns via the Healthdirect Helpline.

Job Description:

The Virtual Health Clinician is responsible for assessing callers and advising on healthcare options, including conducting telephone assessments and recommending care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide health information and assess symptoms.
  • Conduct comprehensive telephone assessments.
  • Recommend appropriate care and time of care.
  • Refer callers to other services as needed.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will need to be a highly skilled Registered Nurse with a passion for delivering exceptional virtual care. You will work closely with our team to provide early support to individuals with healthcare needs, reducing avoidable strain on emergency services.

Requirements:

  • Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse for a minimum of 3 years.
  • At least 3 years of full-time clinical experience within the last 5 years as a Registered Nurse.
  • A varied nursing background involving public contact, including complex primary health, acute medical, or emergency department settings.
  • Confidence in applying critical thinking and clinical judgment in high-pressure situations across all age groups and clinical presentations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including interacting with external services and vulnerable populations.
  • A high affinity for using computer systems, telehealth platforms, databases, and digital communication tools.
  • Ability to work in a flexible, home-based environment.
  • Must be located within Australia.
