The Opportunity
  • Proactively lead government engagement.
  • Build strong relationships across research portfolio, facilitating connections to government priorities.
  • Ensure the impact of science is at the forefront of decision-making.

This role plays a critical part in leading government engagement. It ensures consistency, coordination, and strategy, enhancing reputation as a trusted adviser and partner for scientific input to policy.

You will be required to analyse emerging issues relevant to CSIRO and provide advice on opportunities for CSIRO to engage with decision makers within and across government. As appropriate, you will also support CSIRO's contribution to government processes and provide advice in relation to policy development.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
  • Leading government engagement and collaboration.
  • Ensuring compliance with legislative, parliamentary, and administrative responsibilities.
  • Supporting input to cabinet and related processes.
  • Building strong relationships across the organisation.

Location: Canberra or other capital cities preferred.

Requirements:
  • A relevant tertiary qualification and/or relevant experience in leadership and management.
  • Demonstrated experience building excellent, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A well-developed understanding of Australia's federal government environment and its operations.
