The Role

We are seeking an experienced Science Laboratory Technician to join our team on a part-time basis (0.8FTE). The successful applicant will provide essential support to teaching staff in preparing routine chemicals and equipment, constructing simple apparatus for science classes, and managing laboratory stock levels under supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing technical assistance to teaching staff in preparing chemicals and equipment for science classes
  • Constructing simple apparatus for science classes under supervision
  • Managing laboratory stock levels, including ordering supplies and performing basic repairs and maintenance on scientific equipment
  • Labelling and storing laboratory chemicals and resources, as well as disposing of waste materials properly
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of laboratory techniques and safety procedures
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Organisational and time management skills, with attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, and word processing software
Salary Information

The estimated annual salary for this position is around $73,000 - $88,000 AUD, depending on experience and qualifications.
