Position Overview

NEC is currently seeking a skilled Communication Operations Specialist to manage both internal and external calls for the Victorian Government switchboard as well as the NEC internal switchboard. The ideal candidate will provide prompt and professional service to customers, working in a consistent-volume switchboard environment. This is an initially 6 month Fixed-term contract role, with possibility of extension for the right person.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Enthusiasm or experience handling a busy switchboard with high call volumes
  • Ability to manage calls within set timeframes
  • Intermediate computer skills, including familiarity with databases and internet use
  • Strong telephone etiquette, communication skills, and customer service abilities
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills
  • Ability to take initiative in problem-solving and make sound judgments
  • Capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision
