Wildlife Care Professional

As a Wildlife Care Professional, you will be responsible for the daily care and well-being of native Australian species.

Undertake animal husbandry and exhibit maintenance tasks to maintain excellent health of all animals and ensure high standards of exhibit presentation.

Handle wildlife for guest interactives, facilitate educational programs and tours, and maintain excellent hygiene practices.

Participate in rotation and auditing of stock, ensure equipment is checked and maintained daily, and follow procedures for faulty or replaced equipment.

Be responsible for punctuality to all animal presentations, tours, programs, and guest experiences.

Requirements
  • Certificate III in captive animal studies or equivalent – Essential
  • Animal handling experience – Essential
  • Primate experience an advantage
  • Experience with animal training and positive reinforcement an advantage
  • Minimum 2 years demonstrated experience working with Australian wildlife and sound knowledge of animal husbandry. Either paid or volunteer – Essential
  • Previous Koala handling experience an advantage
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with guest service experience
  • Public speaking experience - Essential
  • Sound knowledge of current wildlife and environmental challenges to conservation
  • Manual Driver's license an advantage
