About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a diverse team of trade and technical professionals in the operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the Space Surveillance Telescope (SST) at the Naval Communications Station Harold E Holt (NCSHEH).

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of complex industrial and defence systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the SST at HEH and allocate resources to achieve contract performance targets in accordance with contracted requirements.
  • Lead and collaborate within a cross-functional environment to manage resources and reporting, ensuring effective execution of maintenance activities.
  • Ensure quality and environmental health and safety standards are maintained in alignment with company policies.
  • Plan, schedule, and manage maintenance requirements and requests in accordance with program priorities.
  • Monitor and control maintenance activities to ensure completion within schedule and required quality outcomes.
  • Practice excellent stakeholder management to maintain effective relationships.
Requirements
  • Experience in trades, electronics, or engineering disciplines working with complex industrial or defence systems.
  • A minimum of 3-4 years' supervisor experience, or a highly competent tradesman or technician with relevant qualifications.
  • Previous experience working on high-power devices is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of programmable logic controller systems (PLC) and ladder logic diagnostics.
  • Excellent knowledge of PC hardware, networking, and peripheral computing equipment, including data networks.
