Structural Steel Detailer Role

We are seeking a skilled Structural Steel Detailer to fulfill the needs of our projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately interpreting and understanding detailed engineering drawings and specifications provided by architects and structural engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Producing precise shop drawings and plans for structural steel components, ensuring compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
  • Developing accurate and detailed drawings of steel structures, including columns, beams, trusses and connections.
  • Conducting thorough material take-offs to determine the quantity and specifications of steel required for fabrication and construction.
  • Closely collaborating with structural engineers, architects and other professionals to address design requirements and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Ensuring that detailed drawings adhere to relevant codes, standards and industry regulations, emphasizing quality and precision.
  • Effectively communicating and coordinating with fabrication teams, construction personnel and project stakeholders to convey design intent and resolve issues.
  • Participating in site inspections to verify that steel components are installed in accordance with the approved drawings and specifications.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A Diploma in a related field or 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • A minimum of two years' experience in a similar role.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with engineers, architects and other stakeholders.
  • The ability to identify and resolve design and fabrication challenges efficiently.
  • An understanding of different types of steel, their properties and how they are used in construction.
  • Familiarity with construction site processes and the ability to conduct site inspections.
