Job Title:

Staff Specialist in Infectious Diseases

This is a permanent up to 0.6FTE Staff Specialist position in the Department of Infectious Diseases at Westmead Hospital.

The Centre for Infectious Diseases and Microbiology (CIDM) at Westmead encompasses clinical, research, teaching, and laboratory services related to infectious diseases and microbiology.

  • Responsibilities include providing expert medical care to patients with complex infections, supervising junior medical staff and students, and participating in infectious diseases research.
Key Responsibilities :
  • Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent.
  • Additional qualifications, skills, or experience relevant to infectious diseases medicine.
  • Demonstrated skills for practice as a Senior Medical/Dental Practitioner, including effective teamwork and communication skills, organizational, supervision, and collaboration skills, commitment to ongoing professional development, experience in quality assurance and translating research into practice.
  • Experience in Infection Prevention and Control.
  • Clinical leadership qualities, including systems thinking, resilience, relationship building, and results orientation.
  • Commitment to good governance, results, risk management, and education/research.

Selection Criteria :

  1. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
  2. Ability to manage time and resources efficiently.
  3. Provide evidence of a Working with Children Check.
