About the Role

The Facilities Team at Queensland Academy for Science, Mathematics and Technology is seeking a dedicated and highly organised individual to join their ranks as a School Officer, Grounds and Facilities. This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring the efficient operation of the school's grounds and facilities, while contributing to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all staff and students.

This is an OO2 progression position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the OO2 classification with eligibility for progression to the OO3 level once specific criteria have been met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the daily management and maintenance of school grounds and facilities.
  • Ensure the upkeep of the school environment, including outdoor areas, buildings, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with the Facilities Team to carry out regular inspections and repairs.
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of school events or activities requiring facilities support.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, health, and safety across school facilities.
  • Manage inventory and ordering of materials needed for maintenance and repairs.

Required Capabilities and Skills:

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Attention to detail, ensuring that all maintenance work meets high standards.
  • Problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to identify and address issues quickly.
  • Physical fitness to perform manual tasks associated with grounds and facilities management.
  • Proficiency in the use of maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Experience in groundskeeping or facilities management is highly desirable.
