About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Support Worker to join our team at the Twilight Cafe, a program of The Salvation Army Melbourne Project 614. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing front of house assistance to Cafe attendees, engaging with people in a non-threatening and empathetic manner, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with people in a non-threatening and empathetic manner to engage them in activities provided by Project 614.
  • Manage client behaviour effectively and appropriately to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all attendees.
  • Ensure detailed assessments are completed where appropriate, with referrals to internal and external services recorded.
  • Coordinate set-up ensuring meals/beverages are served and presented in a professional and timely manner.
  • Provide day to day support for volunteer activities, relaying performance feedback to the Melbourne Project 614 Volunteer & Engagement Coordinator.
Requirements
  • A tertiary qualification in community services/social work and/or related disciplines is desirable.
  • A current and valid employee Victorian Working with Children Check is required.
  • Experience within community services is desirable.
