Catholic Education Northern Territory is seeking a skilled and dedicated Cultural Liaison Officer to join our team.

About the Role

This exciting opportunity will see you working closely with Aboriginal and Islander students, parents, and staff to promote cross-cultural understanding and improve educational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

You will provide classroom support to help ensure that Aboriginal and Islander students are able to work effectively in classrooms and on school programs. You will also maintain an effective liaison with parents/carers and other stakeholders to help ensure their support for their children as students of the school.

In addition, you will supervise students during activities, prepare light refreshments on homework days, and work with the Aboriginal and Islander Education Coordinator to promote Aboriginal and Islander celebration within the College.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have demonstrated commitment to Catholic education, skills in cross-cultural communication, and the ability to relate to Aboriginal and Islander people when providing a liaison service.

You will also need to have the ability to work with minimum supervision in the liaison role, work collaboratively with teachers in the delivery of appropriate and challenging programs to Aboriginal and Islander students, and have experience in providing a liaison service involving close contact with Aboriginal and Islander people.

Essential Criteria
  • Demonstrated commitment to Catholic education
  • Demonstrated skills in cross-cultural communication
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to Aboriginal and Islander people when providing a liaison service
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision in the liaison role
  • Ability to work with teachers in the delivery of appropriate and challenging programs to Aboriginal and Islander students
  • Experience in providing a liaison service involving close contact with Aboriginal and Islander people
Desirable Criteria
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with all school staff
  • Experience working in schools providing support for classroom programs
  • Ability to see projects through to completion
  • Knowledge of school structures and learning programs
  • Ability to speak Arrernte
  • Bus License
  • Evidence of further studies
Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $90,000 per annum, depending on experience.
