As a Nuclear Safety Engineer, you will be part of a team that contributes to Australia's national security by designing and delivering safe nuclear-powered submarines.The role involves performing system safety engineering tasks of a technically challenging nature, preparing and reviewing system safety engineering documentation, and providing guidance and mentoring to less experienced personnel.Key responsibilities include:
  • Performing system safety analysis tasks in accordance with Australian WHS legislation aligned to the program system safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Preparing and reviewing system safety engineering documentation such as System Safety Program Plans, Hazard Analysis Reports, Safety Assessment Reports, Hazard Logs, Hazardous Material Registers and Safety Case Reports in accordance with program milestones.
  • Providing guidance and mentoring to less experienced personnel within the team, leading key initiatives that drive a system safety culture.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor of Engineering or related technical discipline, relevant industry experience in system safety programs, and prior experience with system safety tools is desirable. Awareness of System Safety programs and associated tasks and techniques is essential.This is a permanent, full-time position based at Osborne, SA or Henderson, WA. To be eligible for this role, you must have a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance, and an ability to access protected US defence technology.The benefits of this role include unique and challenging work with a deeper purpose, flexibility over how, when and where you work, up to 10 days additional leave every year, and subsidised childcare.Our company has a depth of submarine design, project management, supply chain, construction and engineering experience and expertise that is unparalleled in Australia's defence industry.
