About the Opportunity

Job Overview: As a Disability Support Worker with Caura Pty Ltd, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities to achieve their goals and improve their skills. This exciting opportunity is part of our community support team working across Sydney & South East Sydney, providing services under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

The Positions Offered: We are seeking experienced Disability Support Workers to join our team, offering a minimum of 30 hours per fortnight. This role involves assisting clients in improving their skills, providing training to prepare for work, and supporting them with job hunting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support clients to identify and achieve their goals, such as improving skills, training for work, job hunting, and budgeting.
  • Support clients in the SLES program.
  • Engage clients in community access.
  • Collaborate with team members.
  • Build effective relationships with clients and their families and carers.
  • Implement routines and structures through positive role modelling.

Requirements:

  • Hold a current P2 license or an open license.
  • Current Police Check.
  • Working with children check.
  • Have a fully insured vehicle (comprehensive).
  • NDIS Worker Module.
  • Manual Handling certification.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Willing to travel across Western Sydney.

Skills & Experience:

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • Certificate III or IV in Disability, or equivalent accreditation in social science/community services.
  • Experience in disability care, aged care, or home care (not required).
  • Meal preparation skills.
  • Experience with feeding and preparation of texture-modified foods and thickened drinks.
  • Literacy and writing skills.
  • Wheelchair and hoist experience.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Demonstrated understanding of person-centered care.
  • Experience following behavior support plans.
  • Experience supporting participants from Aboriginal and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds is advantageous.
