About the Role

As a Product Technologist at Coles, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, legality, and compliance of Own brand products within the Poultry & BBQ category.

You will be responsible for working with cross-functional teams to deliver supplier accountability & performance in safety, legality, compliance, responsible sourcing, ethical sourcing, and repeatable quality. Your expertise will be invaluable in landing new and maintaining current products, aligned to technical KPIs, compelling competitive claims, brand guidelines, and activity plan.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Safety, Legality, and Compliance: Ensure the safety, legality, and compliance of Own brand products in your portfolio, in accordance with the Own Brand strategy & product plan.
  • Supplier Accountability & Performance: Deliver supplier accountability & performance in safety, legality, compliance, responsible sourcing, ethical sourcing, and repeatable quality.
  • New Product Launches: Land new and maintain current products, aligned to technical KPIs, compelling competitive claims, brand guidelines & activity plan, taking prompt action on product and with suppliers to address adverse trends.
  • Product Review and Maintenance: Review products to schedule, maintaining agreed quality, equal or better than competitor benchmarks (shared with PD).

We're looking for someone with strong planning and time management skills, proven experience in supplier management, investigations, audit response & data analysis, influencing skills, and experience working with legislation, internal policy & guidelines additional to legislation.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor degree in Food Science or a related field i.e. Science, Microbiology or Chemistry, and Lead Food Safety / Quality auditing qualification preferred. If you are an experienced Product Technologist looking for a new challenge, please read on.
