Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Professional to oversee health and safety compliance for U.S. Department of Defense construction projects at RAAF Base Darwin.

The successful candidate will ensure strict adherence to EM and Australian WHS regulations for high-risk construction works involving airfield pavement, fuel systems, steel erection, and facility infrastructure construction.

This is a key role in ensuring the health and safety of the public and project staff while meeting or exceeding all contract requirements.

The Health and Safety Professional will have day-to-day operational responsibility to the Project Manager and/or Project Superintendent, and functional responsibility to the Director of HSE.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience preparing and enforcing safety programs on large construction projects.
  • A degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.
  • Current OSHA 30-hour and EM certifications.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian WHS Act 2011 and associated regulations.
  • Certificate IV or Diploma in WHIS for Australian candidates.
  • U.S. citizenship or eligibility for base access clearance.
  • Experience working on federal projects with DOD/USACE/NAVFAC.
  • Proficiency with MS Office products and computer skills.
