Job Title: Senior Laboratory Leader

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Scientist to lead our laboratory team and provide advanced scientific advice.

The successful candidate will have expertise in haematology and urine microscopy, with a tertiary degree in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Perform and validate haematology/coagulation investigations and urine microscopy, ensuring accuracy and maintaining competence.
  2. Develop, implement, maintain and improve supervised services in coordination with Pathology Queensland policies and procedures.
  3. Provide advanced level scientific advice, communication and support to clients, laboratory staff and peers relating to Haematology services.
  4. Liaise with the laboratory team to coordinate the performance and development of the laboratory multi-skilled Health Practitioner team.

Key Qualifications:

  • Tertiary degree in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent from a recognised university or tertiary institution.
  • Membership of a professional scientific association such as AIMS or ANZSBT.
  • Demonstrated high level of knowledge and skill in the performance of haematology and coagulation investigations in a clinical pathology laboratory.
  • Significant experience and knowledge in one or more of the following areas - training, education, quality or troubleshooting in a haematology laboratory.
