Job Description: Governance and Policy Lead

The primary responsibility of the Governance and Policy Lead is to ensure adherence to governance frameworks and functions within business areas.

  • Promote effective governance principles and protocols and design processes and procedures.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain up-to-date governance frameworks and policies to support organisational success.
  • Identify, monitor, and report on governance risks, issues, and benefits through regular analysis.
  • Implement quality control processes to ensure accuracy and quality of outputs and decision-making.
  • Create controls to ensure reliable and accurate information for reporting purposes.
  • Provide professional advice on governance matters and manage stakeholder relationships to support strategic vision and decision-making.

Ideally, you will have the ability to:

  • Communicate effectively, adapting to audience and context.
  • Negotiate and influence effectively to achieve quality outcomes.
  • Make informed decisions based on professional judgement and risk evaluation.
  • Contribute to strategic plans and consider business area priorities.
  • Exhibit strong research skills and deliver accurate information to inform decisions.
  • Manage staff learning and development, including coaching and guidance.

Knowledge and understanding of:

  • Information Governance (IRMG - Level 5) standards.
  • Relevant governance approaches and frameworks in the area of specialisation.
  • Records management standards, systems and procedures.
  • Legislation, policies, procedures and information management requirements relevant to the work area.
  • The agency's privacy, ethics, workplace health and safety and security protocols.
  • Relevant business systems and tools.
