The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will provide leadership to manage AMSA's financial functions in line with our operational and strategic objectives.

The role of **Chief Financial Officer** ensures that the organisation continues to be financially empowered to deliver its vision of safe and clean seas, and saving lives.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will provide leadership to manage AMSA's financial functions in line with our operational and strategic objectives. The CFO will need to have the capacity to work with both a strategic and operational focus, contributing to the strategic purpose and plans of AMSA, but also bringing careful attention to the detail of effective and service focused operational implementation.

You will be an effective and influential leader, responsible for:

- Managing and motivating your team, with a focus on developing and coaching team members and managing the resourcing of the branch to meet AMSA business requirements.
- Establishing and managing an appropriate financial governance framework for the provision of financial services to AMSA.
- Ensuring compliance with the Commonwealth financial framework
- Managing strategic and operational priorities in support of business requirements.
- Overseeing the development and management of AMSA's budget, providing advice to senior and executive managers on the financial aspects of strategic decisions relating to AMSA's activities.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders (internal, external and the Board) to understand, and advise on, current and future business requirements.

**SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**

You will have:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance/accounting or a related discipline and will be eligible for membership of a recognised professional accounting body (CPA preferred).
- Substantial experience and demonstrated success in leading organisations in financial management in a government context.
- Proven ability to work in partnership with Executive teams providing strategic financial direction and advice while delivering a well-managed financial services operation which effectively supports the organisation.
- Significant demonstrated experience providing leadership and managing teams of finance professionals to achieve important business outcomes.
