About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Communications Officer to join our team at the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services. As a key member of our Communications team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing internal and external communication strategies to support the department's strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the provision of accurate and timely advice on internal and external communication strategies, including innovative and creative communication solutions.
  • Contribute to the team's work in the preparation, production, and distribution of collateral, such as speeches, media releases, web content, publications, brochures, and other communication tools.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships and networks with departmental staff, the Ministers and Commissioner's offices, as well as key external stakeholders and other government agencies.
  • Compile, review, and report on data to measure and evaluate the success of internal communications, ensuring communications products are effectively meeting the information needs of QFES's paid and volunteer workforce.
  • Assist with the management of corporate identity to ensure compliance with guidelines and to protect and enhance the value of the QFES brand.
  • Assist in the coordination of official program launches, displays, events, and presentations to ensure they meet department and community expectations.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A relevant qualification in a communications-related area or demonstrated experience in a media environment.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to compile, review, and report on data to measure and evaluate the success of internal communications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
