Job Role: Strategic Financial Partner

Mater Research seeks a skilled professional to partner with our team in a permanent, full-time opportunity. This role is based at our South Brisbane campus.

About the Role
  • Analyse and understand business drivers and financial performance for Mater Research and the medical research sector.
  • Identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and financial risks. Collaborate with senior leaders to review financial performance and develop interventions.
  • Use tools like Power BI to analyse trends and financial impacts.
  • Assist with business case development and capital expenditure processes.
  • Reconcile grants and projects, support finance best practices, and build financial literacy.
  • Develop annual budgets and rolling forecasts for Mater Research. Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, ensure ledger integrity.
  • Provide D365 training, triage business requests, assist with process improvement.
Requirements
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum three years of relevant experience in health, research, or a similar sector.
  • Proactive and enthusiastic approach with strong time management skills.
  • Proficient in Australian Accounting Standards and strategic decision-making.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships, meet deadlines, and problem-solve.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and financial systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Skilled in budgeting, reporting, and cash flow management using intelligent tools.
