We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team in a Full Time, Fixed Term capacity.

About the Role:
  • This role is responsible for providing high-quality diagnostic testing results in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
  • The successful candidate will be required to perform a wide range of diagnostic tests by automated and manual methods.
  • Haematology, including Coagulation and blood film morphology, Biochemistry, including immunoassay, and Blood Banking are key areas of responsibility.
  • Tests are performed in accordance with documented protocols.
  • The candidate will participate in a seven-day, 24-hour rotating and on-call roster, including public holidays.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Science) or equivalent qualifications acceptable for Graduate entry into Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists (AIMS).
  • Australian Association of Clinical Biochemists (AACB) or Australian Society for Microbiology (ASM) certification is highly desirable.
  • Experience in a diagnostic laboratory with demonstrated experience working in Chemistry, Haematology (including morphology) and Blood bank departments.
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Systems e.g. Ultra is essential.
  • The ability and willingness to participate in the after-hours and on-call roster is crucial.
  • Candidates must be capable of performing all laboratory investigations, including instrument operation and understand the principles of analytical methods used.
  • Effective communication skills are necessary to communicate results to medical officers and other staff.
