Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and enthusiastic full-time finance professional to fill this key position. This role is an integral part of the Finance Team, requiring excellent interpersonal skills and a desire to support a small finance team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other finance team members to provide cross-training and backup finance functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, assets, general ledger maintenance and payroll.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial and human resource reporting obligations, including monthly management financial reports, statistical reports, Financial Statements and the Annual Report.
  • Keep accounting information records, registers up-to-date and reconciled, and organize the yearly asset stocktaking process.
  • Provide assistance in the provision of an effective payroll service by assisting with the timely payment of salaries and wages, updating employee and payroll records, and assisting with pay-related inquiries (backup payroll).
  • Maintain accurate computerized filing systems, accounting reconciliations, and support documentation, corporate registers, and spreadsheets as required.

About You

  • You will have proven ability to manage competing tasks, prioritize timelines, problem-solve, and work flexibly and adapt to change as and when required.
  • You will have demonstrated experience in an Accounts Administration role and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and written and numeracy skills.
  • You will have demonstrated experience working in a finance support role with accounts payable and/or receivable processing, general ledger maintenance, budget, and reporting, and willingness to support payroll processing.
  • You will have strong communication skills with the ability to communicate processes and procedures to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to learn new information, processes, and procedures and adapt to change.
  • An understanding of, and awareness of Public Sector Treasury requirements, accounting, and taxation principles is desirable.

  • Experience in accounts administration, preferably within a public sector organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records and perform data entry tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and systems.
