About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our team and contribute to our mission of empowering Australians to make informed decisions through data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify and define valuable data science opportunities that drive business growth and improvement.
  • Develop and implement data science solutions that leverage advanced analytics, machine learning, and statistical techniques to inform business decisions.
  • Design and deploy production-level machine learning models that meet operational requirements and drive business outcomes.
  • Maintain high-quality standards in code, documentation, testing, and solution validity to ensure reproducibility and reliability.
  • Recommend enhancements to upstream systems for improved data science product development and deployment.
  • Support the evaluation, implementation, and modification of AI tooling to drive business innovation.
  • Establish and enforce data science standards and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across the organization.
  • Foster a data-driven culture by demonstrating the value of data science and mentoring colleagues to drive business outcomes.
  • Oversee Compare the Market's performance in data science initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts and describe the value of data science solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role and proven ability to develop and deliver high-quality data science solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in building, deploying, and maintaining production-level machine learning models.
  • Understanding of reproducibility, versioning, monitoring, testing, and automation in data science operations.
  • Solid understanding of software development best practices.
  • Expertise with Python and SQL for data science work is required.
  • Familiarity with Databricks, MLFlow, and Spark/PySpark is well regarded.
