About this Role

We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our surface maintenance team. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work with a highly skilled team, performing planned, unplanned and breakdown maintenance activities on our fixed plant equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To comply with and follow all safety procedures and standards to ensure a safe working environment.
  • To provide technical expertise within the team to facilitate maintenance activities and troubleshoot issues.
  • To develop close working relationships with operations personnel to ensure that all plant downtime issues are escalated correctly and remedied promptly.
  • To perform planned maintenance on conveyors, grinding mills, feeders, pumps, bore fields and filter press.
  • To respond to breakdowns and have sound technical knowledge to troubleshoot.
  • To contribute to a safety culture by following safe work procedures and adhering to BHP values.

About You

We are seeking an individual with proven commitment to their own wellbeing and confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm's way. You will need:

  • A recognised Australian Mechanical Trade qualification.
  • The ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels and functions.
  • Previous experience working in an operational maintenance environment.
  • Experience working in a Copper Concentrator environment is highly desirable.
  • A High Risk License is essential.
  • Working at Heights and Confined Space competencies are desirable.
