Workfast is seeking a qualified Mechanical Fitter to join the workshop team of a leading engineering company in Chipping Norton.

Job Description:
  • This role involves hands-on work with overhaul, testing, and certification of air brake components used in diesel-electric locomotives.
  • The successful candidate will have consistent full-time hours and potential for transition into a permanent position.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overhaul, test, and certify air brake components
  • Perform detailed mechanical assembly and disassembly work
  • Interpret technical drawings and follow strict maintenance procedures
  • Conduct safety inspections and complete relevant documentation
  • Assist with general workshop tasks and maintain a safe work area
Requirements:
  • Trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter (Cert III or equivalent)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on workshop experience
  • Experience with overhauling or maintaining mechanical components (rail, industrial, automotive or similar)
  • Understanding of pneumatic systems (advantageous)
  • High attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Forklift licence (preferred but not essential)
Benefits:
  • $52.00 per hour + super + overtime
  • Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:30pm
