Our client, a leading Australian manufacturer of steel products, is seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Industry Mechanic to join their maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and minimal downtime of fixed plant machinery and equipment in a heavy industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on machinery and equipment.
  • Conduct installations and upgrades to ensure machinery operates at optimal efficiency.
  • Maintain and repair mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems as required.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues with a focus on minimising downtime.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and operational procedures.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of mechanical maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance.
About You:
  • A trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting or equivalent is required.
  • The ideal candidate will have proven 3 years' experience as a fitter, preferably in manufacturing or heavy industry environments.
  • A Forklift Ticket is also essential.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and fault-finding skills are necessary.
  • You must be able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards is crucial.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are also required.
  • Knowledge of industrial machinery and mechanical systems is desirable.
