Shelter Support Specialist

This role involves working closely with residents to help them achieve their goals and overcome challenges. Key responsibilities include conducting individual counselling sessions, providing life skills training, and advocating for residents' needs.
The Housing/Shelter Support Worker must be able to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong problem-solving and communication skills. They should also be able to maintain professional boundaries while displaying empathy and compassion.
Additional duties may include assisting with laundry, cleaning rooms, and performing wellness checks. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a similar environment and possess relevant qualifications such as a diploma in a human/social service field.

- Conduct individual counselling sessions using techniques such as active listening and conflict resolution.
- Provide life skills training to residents, including household management, socialization, and money management.
- Advocate for residents' needs and resolve difficult or sensitive issues.
- Assist with laundry, cleaning rooms, and performing wellness checks.
