Job Title: Peer Support Specialist

The Role:

  • Under general supervision, provide ongoing supports to individuals with psychiatric disabilities who have had contact with the criminal justice system.
  • Engage clients prior to release from jail to develop reentry plans for a smooth transition back into the community.
  • Offer personal encouragement and practical assistance after release.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work one-on-one with referrals from mental health courts, probation, forensic liaison, and shelters.
  • Develop and implement recovery plans based on Recovery tenets.
  • Promote self-determination and overall health and well-being of persons served.

Requirements:

  • Valid peer support certification.
  • Valid driver's license with less than 6 points.
